It gets 4 stars for being without a doubt the best thin crust pizza in the OPRF area. Not the best pizza ever, but pretty tasty. And they're pepperoni is pretty fing good. If it wasn't so bad for me I'd b back more often.

We arrived at 9:12 pm no one was there. All the tables were dirty and the worker was playing on his phone. One table actually had dirty dishes on it. I found it very funny how they had a yelp sign on door. A good review is not possible where the only ones there and had to wait. Saw open French bread in back that was not covered at all . It was sitting on top of some cans that also looked open. Yuck! The place had some type of smell that was not nice. Had baby toys in top of broke refrigerator and card board boxes on the floor of room. Also had tiles taped to the floor what's up with that. We left. I won't give them my money!

Decent pizza, delivery can be slow.

Without a doubt, my favorite pizza place in all of Chicago land over all the places I have been to which includes:: - Lou Malnatis (4-star) - Pizzeria Uno (3-star) - Gino's East (3-star) - Giordanos (1-star) - Art of Pizza (3-star) - Piece Brewery (4-star) - Pizanos (4-star) - Dimo's (4-star) - Bacci (2-star) ...and many more I live in Chicago and will make the 1 hour trek out to River Forest via public transit (it's right off the River Forest Metra) just to have pizza here. It's a small family run place and divey. Waiter service has always been good for me although most people order delivery or carry-out.

I used to live in the area and this was my pizza stop every Friday night for 20 years. The owner knew my order by the caller id. THE BEST PIZZA around!! Many people posted about the dine in area. I have spoken to the owner. This is a family run business. The owner runs it with his children. no other people making the pizzas. So for that reason he focuses on his carryout business. The dining area is there just in case someone wants to stop by and eat their pizza. But when you do eat there they do their best to service you in between all of the phone calls and customers. I moved away so do not get back there as often as I would like but when I am in the area, I will stop in and the pizza is still GREAT!!

Been ordering take out here since I moved 5 years ago. Never dined in, had delivery maybe twice (I live really close). I'm OK with the cash only. They want to avoid the CC surcharge, I don't blame them. Small businesses are like that. The pizza comes wrapped in paper. No soggy cardboard. It does make it a little harder to drive home. I've had the baked mostaccioli, fried mushrooms and dinner salad as well. All good stuff. The eggplant parmesan sandwich was great too. You're not going to get low-cal or weight-watching food here but .. it's pizza. Recently I tried a certain pizza not on the menu when I saw them pulling a huge beef brisket out of the oven and asked what that was about. FANTASTIC. I don't know how anyone can disparage the taste. I've live in Chicago all my life and my kids will grow up with Bertolli's as comfort food.

    (5)
  • Eli R.

Great pizza me and the kids love it. They have great beefs as well. I recommend people in every town to flood this place and get the best pizza you deserve. I just wish they delivered to Maywood at lease me I been a customer for years. But hey I gave to do what I have to do.

  • Jamie D.

Love the thin crust pizza!!I have not eaten anything else from here so I can't say whether it's good or bad. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a good thin crust pizza . Only downside delivery can be slow, so I pick up at times

Last night tried the Meat Lover's pan pizza and it did not disappoint! Usually pepperoni gives me heartburn, but they either don't use very much, or it's balanced with something else to where it's good. And the crust- seems to retain its freshness as good as the thin crust the next day. As I continue to eat my way through the menu, I can't say as I've been disappointed with anything so far.

  • Matt M.

So a word to the wise, their sizes are the old school sizes from your youth. A medium Bertolli's is not that big, but damn if its not delicious. This is easily the best thin crust pizza in the OPRFFP area. I really enjoyed it and I am only saddened I haven't tried it soon. It is getting 4 stars today because I have not had the full experience. I will update my review when I have a large pizza and try the sides, but for now this is based off of one, semi-pricey, but very worth it pizza.

    (4)
  • Susan M.

Absolutely fabulous thin-crust pizza. There is none better in the area. My only quibble is that the delivery can be a bit on the slow side, but we usually pick up to avoid the problem, and our pizza is always ready within about 20 minutes of when we call it in. They don't take credit cards and you can't order only, but that's okay. It's still better than any of the doughy chain pizza that's otherwise available. Now that I'm thinking about it, I'm going to order a mushroom pizza right now!

When the family says "Let's get a pizza tonight," this is where we go. I order a jumbo sausage and pepperoni (they have 5 sizes) for myself, eat about a third of it, and stash the rest in the refrigerator for lunch the next couple of days. To me it's just as good cold as it is burn-the-roof-of-your-mouth hot. My family orders what they feel like, usually a spinach and garlic. To each his/her own. We've never eaten in their restaurant, we always order for pick-up with the occasional delivery if we don't feel like driving. When we pick-up the restaurant is always empty. I find that interesting but not my concern. The ambiance is 80's black/red/white tile. I have no idea what their restaurant service is like. The familia can be a bit brusque, but it's a Italian-American family run pizzaria, what do you expect? They are nice enough to me, but they know me from repeat business. Cash only. If you're in a pinch for cash, they own the convenience store/deli next to the pizzaria, and it has an ATM. Price per person is very reasonable, unless you are like me and order for three days! They have this thing that if you save and turn in menus you can get a free pizza. We order often enough here that we've taken advantage of this several times.

You can't beat Bertolli's thin crust pizza. Just the best around. And the family is great. Hey Frank, Carlo & Tony

I found out about this place from my little guy. It seems he was brought on a field trip while in camp last summer. First time we came, we ordered a slice of pizza. It was so good. The next time we came we ordered a medium sausage pizza. It was nice and piping hot when we got home ( and I don't live close by). We absolutely loved it and plan on visiting again.

  • Jim R.

Tried a sausage pizza from here Friday night. Wow, what a disappointment, all the rave reviews. Pizza had no flavor at all, I've had better frozen pizzas. It couldn't have been anymore bland like eating warm dough.

  • Matthew K.

Ordered a pizza today for delivery that took 2 hours to get. An employee who clearly didn't care about customers called and let me know that the driver dropped it. He didn't care we had to wait another hour nor did he say anything appologetic. Will never order from here again not just because of this issue but the pizza wasn't that great.

  • Jillian F.

Delicious pizza continuously and consistently, as well as an apology for the rude phone call weeks ago. Love this place, and hope they understand the importance of great customer service, just sayin :)

  • Rose C.

Love Bertolli's! Great spinach lasagna and excellent thin crust pizza (sausage w/ black olive and jalapeños is my favorite). Yummy meatballs with very good tomato sauce too. I have also enjoyed the raviolis and various salads. Great bread comes with entrees (I usually save that to make a sandwich the next day). Yes, we have some differences-- All of the food is salty, but that's typical for Chicago and typical for restaurants. Plus, I use minimal salt in my cooking, so take that into account. Delivery is slow most of the time, but that's because it's really, really busy. Pick-up is a better deal if you want your food fast (1/2 h) and have wheels. Otherwise, order before you are past starving. Finally, if you want your pizza cut like pizzas are meant to be cut (it's a pizza pie, after all, not a pizza grid), good luck. I hate the Chicago grid cut, but I cannot get Bertolli's or any other pizza place in this area to honor my sincere and fervent requests for a pie-cut pizza more than 1 in 10 times. I'm trying to adapt (not very successfully), and I have a sense of humor for most things. Why, oh why, does the Chicago grid cut annoy me so? Anyway, if you are new to the area, give it a try. Best pizza in the area.

Quite simply, Bertolli's has pretty much the most perfect Chicago-style thin-crust pizza I have ever tasted. The problem with a lot of thin-crust pies is that they are overly saturated with cheese, resulting in a greasy pie with a soggy center. Bertolli's has just the right amount of cheese and sauce, and the crust is thin, crispy and delicious. They're pan pizza was just okay, but with thin crust this good, who cares! The only think keeping me from giving this place five stars is that it's a little pricey for the portion size you receive.

  • Chantell M.

LOVED IT! The pizza was amazing and the service was great. I saw the delivery guy in my condo and he told us about the pizza. I'm new to the area and didn't have a table or anything to eat one so we went to the location and they let us sit there and were very friendly bringing food, drinks, napkins, plates, etc... I HIGHLY recommend them. If you want great pizza and service, this is it folks!!!

    (5)
  • Todd B.

Definitely not a dine in joint! For the price you can't beat this place. Not the best pizza I've had but it's really good! I always get the river deluxe and have never been dissapointed.

  • Manson D.

I came in here with my wife and two sons. Someone said hello to us and no one bothered to come out and take our order for 13 mins. No menus on the table. As we were waiting in the dining area two people in the back were arguing and yelling. It was kinda the last straw for me when they starting using foul language. I don't care how people rate them that only do pickup, their customer service is the worst I have ever seen. I wouldn't take my 3 American Pitbulls in there for dinner. The owner really needs to wake up. I will definitely be writing the local newspaper about this. NO PLACE FOR CHILDREN. I get better customer service at 7-11.

Great choice in River Forest. My go to pizza place. Owner is a nice guy, family is involved in both running Bertolli's and Frank's Deli, right next door. Thin crust is great, consistent, as is the delivery, which they say is "about an hour" but more like 30-40 minutes. Doesn't look like much on the outside, but the pizza is a winner. Franks Deli makes excellent subs too, love the roast beef.

  • Kelley D.

The food is 5 stars, no doubt. However, I wouldn't recommend to go to the actual restaurant, just order delivery. Definitely inconvenient that they only take cash, but the pizza makes up for it! Have tried some of the appetizers and pasta dishes as well, and they were good, but the pizza is the main attraction.

  • Kate D.

We have ordered from her before, tasty pizza and willing to overlook the "quirky" ownership. We ordered this evening and the pizza that arrived was not what we ordered. A call to Bertollis resulted in the manager arguing with us, accusing us of lying about what was delivered and finally, begrudgingly offering to send another. We thought about it, and called back to tell them to forget it. They continued to argue and be belligerent, telling us how nice they were being. We are done ordering from here, it's not good enough for the headache.

The foood here is amazing and the service is fantastic!! Everyone was so nice and they were fast and efficient. Highly recommeneded!!

Tried for the first time this evening. No frills joint - Cash only. Awesome Pizza! Sauce that has flava (plenty of oregano) and a good amount of sauce and cheese all the way to the end of the pizza - not skimpy. We had 1/2 sausage and mushrooms on all. Much enjoyed with a side of giardiniara. We ordered the thincrust... and it was just thin enough with a nice flavor. Searching for great pizza in Forest Park with a lot of hit or miss local places...we are happy to say that we will be back again soon to try a few more items. Thanks!

  • Susie C.

Decent pizza! We had takeout from here. We ordered a large 3 topping pizza for the 3 of us. Each one of us thought the pizza was okay, nothing special. It was tasty, but like I said nothing special. I like that it's convenient and it's next to Frank's Deli so you can grab a sandwich too.

  • Mike L.

By far one of the best thin crust Chicago Style Pizza's in the Chicago area hands down! Consistent and always made exactly as ordered. I've never had it delivered so cannot comment on delivery times. I've heard their ribs are excellent, but I haven't had them yet. The sons and daughter now work there most of the time and they are very friendly and work their asses off. The Pizza tastes exactly the same as it did when their Dad was making it on his own almost 20 years ago - so unlike some business', these kids didn't screw it up! BRAVISSIMO!

Thin crust deliciousness. Fresh! Best pizza south of Aurelios.

    (5)
  • Joy S.

A friend is obsessed with their panzerottis and is quickly getting me hooked, too! I normally don't like panzerotti, because they're usually too dry. Not here! I like the pepperoni with onion, she gets just cheese. But it's soooo good. The sauce is kinda sweet, kinda salty. It's perfect. Their fries are really good, too. Well done and crispy, like I like them.

  • Joe G.

this place only gets 3/5 because they still do not accept credit cards. great food 5/5 thin pizza is great as far as thin pizza goes. pan pizza is really good and we've been getting that lately just for a change. dough is great and the cheese is like a mat on the pizza (which i like). meatballs are good although im not a huge fan of their meatsauce. delivery 5/5 crappy inside - very much like a divebar does not accept credit cards :( who doesnt do this in 2012...

  • Christopher R.

I was excited about the potential of having a decent Italian carry-out experience near my home, so I eagerly placed a carry-out order for a Meatball Melt, Baked Ziti with Meat Sauce and Antipasto salad. The red sauce was missing something, perhaps some more garlic or sweet tomatoes would have helped. The meat in the meat sauce and meatballs had a nice texture, but lacked flavor. Perhaps using some Italian sausage, pork or veal would help the cause. The antipasto meats and cheeses were excellent and from a technical standpoint the food was well prepared. A few tweaks to the recipes would go a long way.

with all the awesome reviews and even being compared to "better then aurelios" i was slightly let down. still was good pizza and good prices too. will be back...

  • Christina R.

This place is a pain in the ass, cash only and long wait times for delivery. But it is oh so worth it. They have made me a fan of thin crust. I am also a fan of the baked ravioli. As I've said before, you'll find some of the best food in the strip mall nooks.

Bertollis is an awesome pizza place. My family has been getting their pizza since I can remember. Great service as well.

  • Nora G.

Wow! Exactly what i have been looking for and waiting for in my area ... classic, delicious, old school authentic pizza. I had the small thin crust pepperoni, which was plenty for one or two. It is true that they only take cash, my delivery took over an hour, and it is greasy. But, it is also DELICIOUS and worth it ... and rather inexpensive (my order was $10.45 + tip). =)

  • Jason F.

As far as pizza delivery in my area goes, Bertolli's is definitely my favorite! The only other pizza that I like more than Bertolli's is Freddie's, but unfortunately Freddie's doesn't deliver. I gotta admit the pizza is pretty greasy, but it is soooo good. I've ordered from here more times than I can count and I've never had one bad experience. The only problem I have is that they don't take credit cards. Unfortunately this means that a lot of times I have order from my backup spot, which is Falco's (their pizza is great as well), but when I have cash Bertolli's is always my go to spot!

    (5)
  • K D.

Always a favorite in our house! Best crust ever, full of flavor, they never skimp on toppings and it's always made fresh. Just perfect! We live in the area and have done both delivery and pick up. Pick up times are usually really fast, about 20 minutes. They usually tell us it'll be 45 minutes for delivery but it's usually delivered sooner. They are often busy but that is just a testament to the great food and loyal customer base. Place your order early on weekends. I've never thought of their pizza as greasy. I mean it's pizza and you have to expect some grease with melted cheese... To me it's always perfect and super tasty. Pros: Great food, fabulous service, nice location, free parking and awesome value. Potential Cons: Cash Only,

  • Suzanne L.

This place it simply the most authentic around. When I first tried it I felt so nostalgic, even emotional....finally, pizza that tastes like my uncle used to make at his restaurant when I was a kid - thin crispy crust, zesty sauce, top quality cheese and herbs and fresh toppings. I love that it even comes delivered in the old fashioned white paper bags. Try the baked clams too. Everything is good. It's like coming home.

    (5)
  • Chicare M.

Bertolli's is by far the best pizza in the area. The wait is well worth it and the delivery staff is friendly.

    (5)
  • Joey C.

Basically the best pizza you can get in the Oak Park/River Forest area. Small inconveniences like cash only and small location, but totally worth it! I would probably order them more if we lived closer.

    (5)
  • Jackie B.

    We love Bertolli's Pizza.

    (5)
  • Tanya S.

This has to be the worst pizza I've ever had. 1 full layer of grease on top of the cheese. So... the layer pratically soaked the paper wrapping. GROSS. The rest of the pizza was nothing special to make up for the grossness of grease. The biggest pizza disappointment EVER.

    (1)
  • Jenny Z.

Our standard order is a greasy pepperoni pizza and chicken strips...it goes the trick everytime. LOVE IT! The employees seem nice....my only qualm was that last time we went the guy who took my money also made my chicken strips..no washing hands in between cause I was standing there the whole time and didn't see him do so....I'm hoping the germs were deep fried away. Sadly, I think my boyfriend and I like this place because we imagine it is one of the last mob pizza joints in River Forest...it always seems like there are a couple of guys in white t-shirts with ciggys under the sleeve named Tony. They take cash only.

I love pizza but i am picky about where to order it from. I really like their sauce. FYI- Cash only!!

This review is for the service at Bertolli's only, not the food. My husband and I called Bertolli's at 6:20pm on Sunday night (yes, I checked) and ordered 1 large pizza, 1 order of garlic bread and a small salad for delivery. They told us it would take between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Seemed a little long, but since it was a Sunday night, no problem. At 7:25pm, an hour later, we called to check on the progress. When Bertolli's picked up the phone, they said that IT WAS IN THE OVEN! No apology, no call to tell us they were running behind, nothing. Finally, at 8:00pm, they arrived with our order. ONE HOUR AND 40 MINUTES LATER. When we went downstairs to pay, the delivery guy said nothing. There was never an apology, never an explanation, or any offer for a percentage off future business. I understand that with a family-run business, things happen and people run behind. That's completely understandable. What isn't understandable is how a business can take almost 2 HOURS to deliver ONE PIZZA and not even utter an apology. No matter how good the pizza might have been, we will never eat from here again and will discourage any possible future patrons from at least ordering delivery if they want any semblance of decent customer service.

Love this place! We moved from the city and didn't think we'd be able to get good pizza out in RF but this place is as good or better than where we got our pizza in the city. Great family run pizza place. Cash only which is a pain. Now they have franks next door with a cash machine so cash isn't as much of a prob.

    (5)
  • Scott T.

Good pizza, good price, fast delivery no hassel. The only thing I do not like is they only take cash. I have always gone to Salernos in Berwyn but I am done with them. They are really expensive now that they have moved and their service has been HORRIBLE. Wrong orders, expensive and too long for delivery. Try Bertollis if you are in Forest Park or River Forest!

I find my self comparing other pizza to Bertolli's when I go out, and it almost always falls short. Their sausage is amazing, and the pizza seems to always be cooked just right.

started ordering from here based on a recommendation. love it. the thin crust is good but the pan is excellent (and i'm a thin crust person).

my second pizza since moving to forest park. small strip mal lplace, but really good pizza. it was recco'd to me by my realtor after closing, so he had nothing to lose. cheese is very tasty with some good carmelization on the edges. like most pizzas it could use extra sauce, but as a whole, a definate recco from me.
